Singer and vocal trainer Hwang Chi Yeol, who gained public’s interest through “Immortal Song,” recently had an interview with news outlet OSEN. In his interview, he talks about his singing career and being a vocal trainer for INFINITE’s Woohyun, Sunggyu, and Hoya.
He reveals that becoming a singer was never an easy journey, but he never let go of his passion for music nonetheless. He says, “A lot of things have changed [since I’ve gained popularity]. A lot of people recognize me. I have my own fan club now. I used to be part of the staff, but now I have my own group of staff members working for me.”
He continues, “I became a vocal trainer when I first debuted as a singer and my company was financially unstable. I spent a good amount of time studying music as a vocal trainer. It was then that I got introduced to [INFINITE’s] Sunggyu and Woohyun, and the members of Lovelyz. Woohyun and Sunggyu appeared on ‘Immortal Song’ once and I went with them, too, as a staff member. I practiced with them and watched them perform.”
“Watching Lovelyz and other groups perform makes me feel great. I’m especially attached to INFINITE’s Hoya. He’s a rapper but he also has a love for singing, so we would sometimes practice together with other trainees. Hoya and Sunggyu are two of my favorite students,” Hwang Chi Yeol confesses.
He goes on to compliment idol groups these days, saying, “I think idol groups are amazing. They can do what they do because they are idols. When Sunggyu and Woohyun went on ‘Immortal Song’ I thought to myself, ‘They are INFINITE for a reason. There is a reason why they are so successful.’”
The singer concludes the interview by hinting his future plans, explaining, “I don’t have big things planned so far, but I am preparing slowly and steadily. I want to give it my all and to show the audience the true image of singer Hwang Chi Yeol.”
